Inaugural workshop: a successful day!

SERENE-RISC held its first bi-annual workshop on May 13, 2014. Nearly one hundred professionals, business leaders, academics and graduate students gathered in Ottawa for the event. The program included a variety of presentations by university researchers and public and private sector representatives from organizations including the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), CGI, Communications Security Establishment (CSE), Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), ESET, Public Safety Canada, SecDev group and Symantec.

Participants learned about Canada’s research capacity in cybersecurity and about the various organizations working in the field. They also had the opportunity to network and share their perspective on Canada's cybersecurity knowledge mobilization needs.

Feedback from attendees was very positive and enthusiastic. By all accounts, the first workshop was a great success.

Planning is underway for the October 2014 workshop which will be held in Ottawa.
